While the council has been a Dennis Eagle customer for many years, it had used other chassis before the Elite+ was launched earlier in 2022.
The 27 RCVs all feature Olympus 20m3 bodies and Terberg OmniDEL Electric bin lifts which are quieter to operate and reduce emissions and fuel consumption.
The chassis have a shorter wheelbase as well as the rear-steer axle to provide greater manoeuvrability in the historic borough’s tighter streets.
The Elite+ cab is designed with drivers and crews in mind, providing a more comfortable, quieter ride and catering for all the needs of today’s front-line waste and recycling workforce.
Drivers are in more control than ever with easily adjustable seats to fit individual body shapes and ergonomically designed controls finished with new soft-touch materials.
The truck’s safety is also second to none. The driver’s direct vision had been independently found to be the best of any truck on the UK’s roads in Dennis Eagle’s previous chassis but even this has been improved in the Elite+.
“Getting complete vehicles from an original equipment manufacturer has significant benefits,” said Dennis Eagle’s Regional Sales Manager Dan Foden.
“Throughout the process, from the time of ordering, followed by delivery and then supporting the vehicles once they are in operation, there’s just one company to deal with. It saves so much time and is so much more reliable.
“Added to that, the three main components – the chassis, body and bin lift – are designed to work together. It couldn’t be more efficient.
“The last RCVs Greenwich bought from us were three 19m3 narrow track trucks in 2020 when the Elite+ cab had not been launched. But now it’s here, these vehicles offer everything drivers, crews and operators could want.
“And Dennis Eagle also aims to offer the best Aftermarket support in the industry because that is vital to any fleet’s operation. Our Bexley Service Centre is less than eight miles down the road from the Greenwich depot which means any work they need doing will be quick and easy to arrange.”
